Thoughts

it's been a while

it's been a while since i talked and after several crashouts, i have now in my posession a bokken, an inter miami squad in FC 26 MLS league through the xbox game pass alongside elden ring (whcih i seldom play currently because of the FC 26 and i think i started playing that a lot becuase of the world cup), a fox one subscription to watch the entire world cup go down live, a list of recovering biomarkers because im on medications, and the medications themselves.

idk how secure mataroa is, i trust it for the journaling on business but not so much on my mental health stuff. but future me would probably know what they are since i still remember the older one i took before.

my mind is at a much better state and im able to work. i am starting to be more accepting of the waiting of this entire startup thing, and i think maxx being this maniac who want to use human neurons to power server farms won't get far with us regulation (especially in life science btw), because just look at how anthropic's fable got banned!

what's bigger than maxx is this is a positive sum game, and as i said months ago, people will enjoy the fruits of labor, labored by everyone. so if i don't make it but someone else does, the only thing i lose is glory, and im only lacking in methods, not ideation. with that said, it's still worth trying. it's not a matter of would i make it, it's just that i want to make it because i want to do it. i need to do this for the love of the game, if not, there's no point anyway.

so the waiting. weekends where people don't work so expect people to respond on monday. who says I have to be accepted by some timed opportunities anyway?

my plans are as following:

  • go to amplify bio's event on july 1st in sf! going to sf the first time with my dad, and prob staying for 4 days and i will fly back domestically. just networking.
  • wait until the PoC is done; currently undergoing optimization, later real staining work, shipment of block 21 slidebox from umass to histospring (i will need to travel to histospring at that point but that would prob be after the first week of july), finally quantification + modeling
  • in paralllel, start building a target list for cold outreach for LOIs. should prioritize people who are already favoring organoids like small therapeutic startups and big non-profits on Non-Alzheimer's neurodegenerative diseases. they all need to be needing reproduciblity. and reach out after PoC is done and looks promising. goal is an LOI. that's it.
  • during the outreach, do recruitment. i'd prob go to japan because they have less language barrier and maybe im biased because i like their taste in a lot of things (culturally, entertainment, weaponary <remember the bokken?>, the craftsman spirit), but most importantly first principle thinking that got them organoids (under Hans Clevers' team, notably Toshiro Sato) and iPSCs (Yoshiki Sasai). i'd prob travel there even without knowing whether suzanne could work. i should expect her not to. always prepare for the worst case scenario. think logically. by my analysis, the best place to recruit (as said before) would prob be asia. i need to look for strengths in all my available choices. america is only easy for investment and getting VCs onboard, not recruitment. for this typa thing, i would trust a japanese scientist in those labs that built the foundations of this industry in the first place. i think the matsumoto lab in osaka is trying to build ML models for preditive modeling of organoid formation (just not brain organoid)!
  • then, with all the data, outreach to ppl like lada + applying to places like 1517 etc., and ofc with a healthier mind, lock in for funding opportunities.

i think i should stop being stoic about all this. i should just have fun. do it for the love of the game.
