black myth wukong

possibly the greatest game i've ever played.

it has unfair advantages in many aspects: the mythology/lore, the landscape/cinematography (from real-life photogrammetry), rich art directions because of thousands of years of culture. it beats every game i've played in these categories by a long shot.

compared to the shallow philosophy in death stranding, black myth wukong dives so deep into mahayana buddhism. the critique, the hidden references to real historical scriptures, etc. chapter 3 is the peak of that very philosophical discussion. it is evidenced by how the theme music of the game itself has the same motif as the chapter 3 animation music.

a dlc is very hard to write, and i didn't realize that until i have finished the game with the true ending by beating erlang shen (april 26th). the burnout and the expectations they have set themselves upon is immense, and it's very understandable. they are braver than i originally thought because my thought experiments on how to write the dlc is so challenging that i have mentally abandoned the prospect of creating some sort of envisioned head canon. the further they write the story from jttw, or wukong zhuan, the further originiality and novelty they need, not just in the narrative, but in the implemention of fresh political philosophy ideas. the fact that they are not abandoning the idea is brave enough already.

it's time to archive this game in my steam library, and build my own destiny, while awaiting the return of the destined one. no pun intended.
